Luminary and Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment Drop First Episodes for Inaugural Season of Anthology Podcast “Pull The Thread” Today

Executive-produced by Drake, Adel “Future” Nur,  Peter Nelson, and Maggie Gilbride of DreamCrew Pull the Thread: The Wild Life goes undercover on a massive sting operation, while revealing the far-reaching costs of illegal wildlife trafficking

New York, NY

Luminary, the leading subscription-based podcast and audio entertainment network, announced today it is releasing Pull The Thread, a new Luminary Original podcast in partnership with DreamCrew Entertainment.

Produced by the team at audio production company Novel, in partnership with Thread Studios, season one of Pull The ThreadThe Wild Life—goes inside the international undercover operation to take down notorious wildlife trafficker, Moazu Kromah, while illuminating the dark and tangled web of the illegal wildlife trade. The eight-part series is hosted by the UK-based, award-winning investigative journalist Runako Celina, known for her hard-hitting documentary “Racism for Sale.”

Featuring covertly captured audio tape of the sting operation led by undercover agent “Wolf,” the show is rich with important voices, including: retired DEA Agent Wim Brown (who helped catch arms dealer Viktor Bout); the late Anton Mzimba, a revered ranger in the Timbavati Game Reserve of South Africa and subject of the film Rhino Man; wildlife conservation advocate Prince William; and many others.

Listeners can expect to be both shocked by the sheer scale of the illegal wildlife trade and moved by a more nuanced understanding of the people and motivations behind poaching and the historical context of conservation efforts. With a tone that is at times humorous and sardonic, yet always insightful, 'The Wild Life' not only entertains but also educates.

"We are thrilled to partner with DreamCrew and Novel to bring this critical story to light," said Luminary founder Matt Sacks.

Host Runako Celina observed:“What an experience it’s been to immerse myself in the world of wildlife espionage - a transcontinental battle against the 23 billion-dollar-a-year illegal wildlife trade. What I initially understood to be a battle about saving animals and animals alone I soon realized was as much about people: those on the frontlines, those impacted by the trade, those forced from their indigenous lands. For others in the diaspora, like me, the Wild Life offers an unprecedented insight into the many stakeholders on all sides of this fight, scattered across the African continent yes, but in reality connecting to the entire world.”

Pull the Thread: The Wild Life premieres today. Subscribers to Luminary can hear the first four episodes now.
