The Secrets Hotline from Love and Radio’s Nick van der Kolk debuts today on Luminary
Available only on Luminary, the new series is a spinoff of Love and Radio’s popular “Secrets” feature.
New York, NY, November 6, 2020 - Luminary, a subscription podcast network, announced the debut today of The Secrets Hotline podcast, a spinoff of the popular Love and Radio podcast feature. An affirming experience for individuals - some famous and some not - to get thoughts and burdens off their chest, The Secrets Hotline is a raw and vulnerable series about connecting people with their true selves.
Hosted by podcast pioneer Nick van der Kolk, host of Love and Radio, the longest continuously running narrative podcast, The Secrets Hotline dives into the disconnect between who someone is and who they purport to be. Featuring six, approximately 40-minute episodes, The Secrets Hotline is open for individuals to relieve their burdens, share entertaining mishaps, and express their innermost secrets while offering a candid, non-judgemental space and a communal experience for sharing. Listen as anonymous callers from across the globe share what is hidden in their lives.
In addition to call-in guests, each episode of The Secrets Hotline will feature provocative conversations with experts, media personalities, and thought leaders including: Dan Savage, host of Savage Lovecast podcast; host of Strangers podcast Lea Thau; star of Netflix’s Queer Eye, Karamo Brown, host of Karamo: The Podcast, available exclusively on Luminary; host of Death, Sex, Money podcast, Anna Sale; Senior Investigative Reporter for Buzzfeed News and Freedom of Information Act expert, Jason Leopold; and MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellow, sociologist and critically-acclaimed author of Lower Ed and THICK: And Other Essays, and co-host of Luminary’s Hear to Slay podcast, Tressie McMillan Cottom.
“We live in a world where you are expected to live your life more publicly than ever before and we operate under the assumptions that we know who people are and what they are experiencing based on the forward facing lives they present. The reality is that we oftentimes don’t even know ourselves, hiding behind our secrets to keep life at a distance,” said van der Kolk. “The Secrets Hotline is an opportunity for people to open up and share these parts of themselves with unconditional support and without judgement. Over the past four years on Love + Radio, we’ve seen how truly freeing it is and I am thrilled to launch this new series dedicated to the hotline and helping people connect with who they really are.”
The series is created by and hosted by Nick van der Kolk, the creator of Love and Radio and produced by Andrew Gill and Phil Dmochowski.
New episodes of The Secrets Hotline will be released every Friday starting today, only on Luminary. Share your own at 1-929-SECRETS (929-732-7387) or secretshotline.org.
